The avant- guard neo classical music mirrors her choreography perfectly, balancing beauty with novelty. Alli has a fondness for using props in her performances, where they become a part of the visual scene, and act as non human dance partners. The ropes and chords in “Unravelled” conjure metaphors of snakes slithering, bondage, attachment, and children at play. They offer an exploration of movement and physics, allowing the dancers to pull and hang, finding new movements that wouldn’t be possible without the ropes. Who We Are
Nosilla Dance Project is a professional modern dance company featuring strong partnering, engaging storytelling, and surprising movement. Established in 2003, this project has grown organically into a valued member of the Boulder arts community. Our performances invite the audience to consider their own joys and challenges within their day to day lives. For example, our show entitled: “Chaos Theory, As It Relates To Family” explores young love, creating a family and never-ending laundry. In our most recent production entitled: “Unravelled”, we explored the bonds that we create and how they unravel. Our audiences have expressed their captivation of the strong connections between dancers and the honest, quirky and highly challenging movement created by Artistic Director and Choreographer, Alli Jones. Alli is excited to continue sharing her unique choreographic vision in Colorado and beyond.
Nosilla Dance Project has participated in festivals across the U.S. including the Boulder Contemporary Dance Festival, Convergence2019, CBGDance in New York City, and the Versatility Dance Festival in Los Angeles. Most recently, Nosilla completed a three day run of their show “Unravelled” at the Dairy Arts Center, the premier performance venue in Boulder, Colorado at a significantly discounted cost to the audience. Performing in three Boulder Fringe Festivals, the low cost of admission has given many community members their first experience of Nosilla. With the added benefit of fiscal sponsorship, we hope to raise funds to expand our ability to travel and share our work. While continuing to perform locally in Boulder and Denver, we plan to continue travelling throughout the U.S. in 2020 and expand to international exhibitions of our work in 2021.
