Who We Are

Nosilla Dance Project is a professional contemporary dance company based in Boulder, Colorado, led by Artistic Director and choreographer Alli Jones.

For more than 20 years, Nosilla has created contemporary dance that is honest, vulnerable, surprising, and deeply human. Our work explores the things we all encounter including relationships, family, memory, history, communication, joy, loss, and the ways we try to understand one another.

Strong partnering, powerful unison, unexpected movement, and emotionally charged choreography come together to create work that invites audiences to engage with something to discover, feel, question, or carry with you.

As one audience member described a recent performance, “By the end, my heart was so full,” while another called the work “eerie, tender and deeply human.” Those responses speak to what we hope to create: performances that stay with you, open something up, and perhaps ask you to see something differently.

Our Story

Nosilla Dance Project was established in 2003 and has grown organically into a valued member of the Boulder arts community. NDP is fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas.

What began as Alli's choreographic project has developed into a closely knit company of artists who share a commitment to creating meaningful, challenging, and sometimes quirky contemporary dance. Over the years, Nosilla has continued to evolve alongside its dancers, collaborators, audiences, and community.

While Boulder is home, Nosilla's work has reached audiences through festivals and performance opportunities in Colorado and beyond, including New York City and Los Angeles. Colorado performances include Mariposa Collective, Boulder Contemporary Dance Festival, Cindy Brandle Dance Company and Friends, Boulder Creek Festival, Convergence, and Boulder Fringe.

Connection Is at the Heart of Our Work

Nosilla's creative process is highly collaborative. Dancers bring their ideas, experiences, and physicality into the creation of each piece, working closely with Alli to shape the choreography.

That collaboration is more than a process, it is part of what makes Nosilla who we are. The dancers trust one another, challenge one another, support one another, and take risks together. That connection becomes visible onstage. We believe dance doesn't have to tell you exactly what to think. It can give you a place to feel, wonder, remember, laugh, ache, or see something differently. Our Work

Over the years, Nosilla's work has explored everything from the everyday absurdities of family life to the weight of history and memory.

Toe Jam (2005)
Performed as part of Boulder Fringe Festival blending humor, storytelling, and inventive movement rooted in real human experiences.

Young love, creating a family, and the never-ending laundry.

Unravelled (2020)
The bonds we create, the connections that hold us together, and what happens when those bonds begin to unravel.

Becoming, In The Unknown (2022)
A work born during the uncertainty of COVID-19, created first online, then outside, and finally in the studio.

(un)Forgotten (2026)
A reflection on history, memory, and the consequences of forgetting. The work asks us to consider the patterns we repeat, the histories we carry, and what our world was, is, and may be becoming.

What's Next

Nosilla is currently creating its next annual production, premiering in February 2027. The new work explores communication, connection, and the question: What if we showed up differently?
